These two were fun. Too bad we didn't get to spend more time together. It rained, it shined. And was all-together a fabulous day. Brady and Nicole, best of luck on building an awesome life together!
*Edited to add: I've had some requests to give more history on how I know the people I'm photographing. In an effort to keep the people who mean the most to me in my life happy, I will oblige. So. Brady's dad is a football coach for the Alta High school football team. A few years ago I took some pictures at one of the sophomore football games. Brady's dad remembered me and referred them to me. Thanks Coach Casaday!*

It was tough to choose a favorite, but I think this one wins. I just like it.

Inspiration.

Any photogs out there who haven't heard of Davina's blog (which I imagine you have), you may want to check it out. She's doing a Women and Business series which has some great stuff in it. Today she featured Rebekah Westover who you could say has been my photography mentor. The girl is awesome and has helped me exponentially. I'll be posting a wedding I did with her in a few days.

And what's a post without a picture. Pretty sure my 4 year old is about as awesome as they come.

Up and Down days

Everyone has their up and down days. It's part of life.

But I have found the up and down days to be specifically extreme in business.

And unfortunately, when you're first starting at ANY craft, the down days seem to prevail more often than the up days.

So I try to stick by two things:

1. Don't compare. Just do your thing.

2. Just keep swimming.

And so I will. Just keep swimming.

A big thanks to all those who have supported and encouraged me along the way. Without you, I wouldn't be where I am today. And there's better things to come. I'm determined.

Big family.

Sadie and Shane didn't get married the same day they hired me to take pictures for their wedding lunch and reception. So, with the extra time, we did some family pictures for the James gang. Please note, I am still not an extended family photographer. This was an exception I won't make often. Unless someone wants to pay me way more than it's worth. :) And then maybe I'll consider it.

My friend Kimi (below) with her man. Sister of the bride and the reason we all partied together (she recommended me to her sister, Sadie). Kimi and I spent a semester at the Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies in Israel together. The last night we were there, we pulled our matress's out on the patio (pretty sure that was frowned upon. . .whatever), slept under a full moon, and listened to the Muslim call to prayer blaring over the city at 5am. Some of the best 4 months of my life.
