Allman funbooth!

Remember these guys?! They're back for the funbooth. And they were the perfect set of kids for it.

Back to the grind.

Just got back from a weekend in Vegas. And it feels like we never left. I need a 10 day vacation somewhere tropical. Time to start planning. But for now, it's back to the daily grind. When all I really want to do is curl up in my bed and read a good book.

I don't know why, but I really don't like bath time. So I thought maybe if I made it a photography experience it might make it better. Didn't work. Here's the results anyway.

I wish this picture had sound. Because the world was ending as those bubbles slid into her eye.

In full color.

I found an awesome new location. It took a little sweet talking to get us in there. I'm always up for a little persuading. And I decided it was time for a little experimenting. Tried a few new things. Shot in full sun alot of the time, which I've decided I really like. And I shot with my wide-angle lens ("story-telling" lens) on most of the time thanks to a suggestion from a fellow photographer.
And these guys--great sports. We shot these on the morning of their annivesary! And I dig their outfits (nice job Carrie). Which is why I decided to do the entire post in full color.
Enjoy.

Two down. . .a few more to go.

When I started on my photography adventure, I quickly determined the fastest, most efficient way to learn, is to learn from others. Trial and error has its purpose, but if I can find those people in the industry who really know their stuff, and learn from them, I'd be much better off. So I went on a quest to find some of the best photographers in Utah and see what I could learn from them.
So far, I've been able to second-shoot with two of them and I learned more by spending one day with them than I ever could have reading books or floundering around on my own.
I've already mentioned Rebekah Westover who is insanely talented and has been a tremendous help to me.
Now, I had the pleasure of second-shooting with none other than Kate Benson who is equally as talented as Rebekah and one of the nicest people I've ever met. After sitting in the car with her for 5 minutes, it felt like we'd known each other forever. And you should see this girl work the flash on her camera. Pure awesomeness.
There are a few more photographers on my list who I'd like to shoot with. Hopefully I'll be making posts about them in the future. :)
Here's one from the wedding I shot with Kate last Thursday. More to come later.

I need a nap.

My husband is just getting over strep. My 2 yr. old has an ear infection and a "foreign body" in her ear which we can't get out until the infection is gone. The doctor (who happens to be my dad) said it didn't look like an insect (well that's good) and that it was black (doesn't narrow it down too much) and it had two little loops (?). And my 4 yr. old is just getting over a cold/cough that makes her throw-up. Super awesome. Sleep around here is hard to come by. And work. Work is falling really behind. Boo.

But here's a few for some of you who are waiting patiently.

Lots of heads.

More of those heads. For anyone wondering, I take these with a Canon 50mm 1.4 lens. Shot at 1.8 (except for the little guy--he was moving all over the place so I bumped it up to 2.2 on him) in the driveway in front of their house. The sun had already been set for 20 minutes so we were running way low on fuel, Mav (Top Gun baby). Processing: A little contrast added in Bridge Camera Raw (although I shoot all my stuff in Jpeg--no RAW here. I don't have the hard drive space for RAW files), a little contrast in Photoshop using Curves. And I do my black and whites in Lightroom. Clear as mud, right?!
